Hyde Park School Bacteria Samples
Do you want to know about your body?
GrOsSoLoGy of the Human Body
I have created this class to gain the attention of kids and to teach them how fun science can be. Topics we explore are boogers, poop, DNA, skin, the heart (circulatory system), lungs (respiratory system), brain & nervous system and the eukaryotic cell. I can teach in your school, home, at a private/public event, birthday party, conference, anywhere you need I can be to teach you all about science. Contact me to get more details and pricing on the event you want me to teach.
Building pasta skeletons to learn about the structure and function of our Skeletal System.
Show me your muscles! We revealed the structure and function of the muscular system. Understanding flexion and extension of opposing muscles.
Creating clay hearts to aid in our understanding of the Circulatory System. We discussed the parts of the heart and their functions. Some made their hearts into a necklace and others a magnet.
The creation of our Eukaryotic Cells. The students learned about the function of the organelles inside of the cell while pleasing their palates!
The students created their own comic strip about the Immune System. We discussed the functions of our immune system, created an antigen and antibody to begin to create what is now their comic strip. This process was amazing to watch each student go on their individual journey.
Jeopardy to assess our retained knowledge over 10 weeks! Congratulations to team Awesome DNA for your 400 point lead! Team FBGM's you did a great job as well! Way to expand your knowledge!!!!
During our snacks for Jeopardy, we found goldfish and gummy bears engaging in coitus (mating). The kids were amused and I took this opportunity to teach them a new scientific word.
I made edible eyeballs for the students with cut outs of faces. They were responsible for decorating their faces and putting the blood vessels on their product. Here are their faces!
Making Edible Noses while learning all about the structure and function of our nose!
Making edible Tracheas and Bronchi
Building the plasma membrane, cytoskeleton, nucleus, nucleolus and DNA
Creating edible plant cells
Mixing creativity with science! Building organelle characters. Amazing work!
